organized by the Directorate-General for Higher Education.<\/p>\n<p>The national competition takes place at the end of the school year and is organized in three phases, according to the calendar approved annually.<\/p>\n<p>The National Commission for Access to Higher Education is responsible for directing the entire process related to assessing eligibility for higher education, as well as establishing the selection and ranking criteria for candidates applying for enrollment in higher education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply, you must:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To hold a secondary education qualification, or a legally equivalent qualification;<\/li>\n<li>To have taken the national exams corresponding to the entrance exams required for the different courses and institutions you are applying to;<\/li>\n<li>Perform the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dges.gov.pt\/guias\/preq.asp?plid=593\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prerequisites<\/a> if they are required by the institution for the course you are applying for;<\/li>\n<li>Not being covered by the international student statute regulated by<a href=\"https:\/\/files.diariodarepublica.pt\/1s\/2014\/03\/04800\/0181801821.pdf\" must be obtained in each entrance exam, as well as in the application grade.<br \/>\nMinimum grades are set annually by each higher education institution for each of its courses and are published in the Application Guide.<br \/>\nCandidates can compete in the various stages of the competition.<\/p>\n<p><span>However, for students who were placed in the 1st phase and then apply to and are placed in the 2nd phase, their placement in the 1st phase will be automatically cancelled, and consequently, their registration and enrollment will also be void.<\/span><br \/>\n<span>Similarly, for students
