The Confiança University Residence, the largest student accommodation infrastructure in the country, was inaugurated on September 10th. It is part of the National Plan for Accommodation in Higher Education (PNAES) and financed by the PRR through the Institute for Higher Education (IES, IP).

The Confiança University Residence, the result of a profound heritage regeneration project at the former Confiança Factory and with an investment of 29 million euros, substantially reinforces the public offer of student accommodation, providing 786 beds at affordable costs.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, the Mayor of Braga, João Rodrigues, the Director of the Student Support and Innovation Department of IES, IP, Andreia Lopes, the Rector of UMinho, Pedro Arezes, the President of the Academic Association (AAUMinho), Luís Guedes, and the CEO of the Casais Group, António Carlos Rodrigues.

This new infrastructure embodies the ongoing investment in social action in schools and reinforces the mission of IES, IP to ensure that housing does not constitute an obstacle to attending higher education.
