IES reinforces internationalization at FAUBAI 2026

noticia1

The Institute for Higher Education (IES, IP), through its Study & Research in Portugal initiative, participated in the FAUBAI 2026 conference, organized by the Brazilian Association for International Education, which took place between April 11 and 15 in Florianópolis, Brazil.

Portugal's participation in the event marked a pivotal moment for the affirmation of Portuguese Higher Education at the international level, in an event whose motto was "Internationalization for a Multipolar World".

The Portuguese delegation, composed of 45 participants and representing 27 higher education institutions (HEIs), led by Cristina Perdigão, vice-president of the IES, had the institutional support of the Consul of Portugal in Curitiba, André Bandeira, who emphasized to the delegation the crucial role of academic diplomacy in building solid bridges between Portugal and Brazil.

Throughout the four days of the event, the Portuguese presence at FAUBAI solidified itself as a strategic platform for expanding international collaboration. National Higher Education Institutions facilitated hundreds of meetings with potential partners, with a special focus on Latin America and other regions. These contacts proved fundamental for building bridges and designing new joint initiatives, such as promoting the mobility of students, faculty, and staff, establishing bilateral agreements, creating dual degrees, and forging partnerships to attract funding, among others.

During the event, we witnessed the realization of a partnership with the on-site signing of a cooperation agreement between the University of Beira Interior and the University of Ribeirão Preto.

This broad presence reinforces Portugal's position as an essential partner in Latin America, opening doors for joint funding projects and the expansion of academic cooperation networks.
