Pedagogical innovation and higher education highlighted on CNIPES Day.

The “CNIPES Day” took place at the Abel Salazar Building of the University of Porto this Tuesday, May 19th.

Organized by the National Council for Pedagogical Innovation (CNIPES) of the Institute for Higher Education (IES), the meeting was part of the Week for the Promotion of Pedagogical Innovation and took place under the motto "Co-building the Future / Co-creating Tomorrow".

Opening Session and Pedagogical Appreciation

The opening session included speeches by the Vice-Rector of the University of Porto, José Manuel Castro Lopes, the Vice-President of CNIPES, Manuel João Costa, and the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Cláudia Sarrico.

The morning program began with a panel dedicated to valuing those who invest in pedagogical innovation, with interventions by Bald de Vries (University of Utrecht) and Duncan Ross (University of Glasgow). This was followed by a debate on inclusion and institutional transformation in higher education, led by Eve Lewis (SPARQS) and Dara Ryder (AHEAD).

Artificial Intelligence and Consortium Sharing

The afternoon began with an analysis of the impact and responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence in higher education, presented by Iain Mac Labhrainn of the University of Galway.

One of the key moments of the meeting was the presentation and sharing of experiences from the seven consortia of Centers of Excellence for Pedagogical Innovation. Representatives from CECAM, CEIP-INOV3P, EPIC, Inov@U, INOV-NORTE, PEDAGOGIA XXI, and Sapien detailed the main lessons learned from their respective projects.

International Lessons and Closing

Before the closing of the session, the panel focused on international lessons and practices, presenting the perspectives of Evelyn Korn (EUPeace and University of Marburg) and Maria Kelo (European University Association).

The event was closed by the President of CNIPES, Patrícia Rosado Pinto. All sessions included periods of debate and open questions to the audience, promoting the direct sharing of perspectives among the participants.
