The Polytechnic Institute of Porto held the Internal Days of Pedagogical Innovation (JIIP'26) on July 16 and 17 at the Higher School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE), an initiative dedicated to reflection, sharing of practices, and valuing pedagogical innovation in higher education.

The conference brought together teachers, researchers, students and specialists from various scientific areas of P.PORTO, providing a space for discussion around the main challenges currently facing higher education, particularly in the areas of pedagogical transformation, the integration of digital technologies, the quality of teaching and learning processes, and the promotion of academic success.
More than just a space for disseminating pedagogical experiences, the Conference established itself as a moment for strategic reflection on the evolution of higher education, promoting debate around the transformations that currently challenge institutions. The increasing integration of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning processes, the valorization of student-centered pedagogical methodologies, the professional development of teachers, the promotion of academic integrity, and the construction of more inclusive and collaborative learning environments constituted some of the structuring axes of the initiative, highlighting an approach sustained by the production of knowledge and the definition of guidelines for the future of pedagogical innovation.
Throughout the two days of work, parallel sessions, scientific communications, poster presentations, workshops, conferences, and a round table were held, allowing for the dissemination of projects and experiences developed in the different organic units of the Polytechnic of Porto. Among the topics analyzed were the use of artificial intelligence in higher education, active learning methodologies, curricular innovation, assessment and academic integrity, inclusion, digital learning environments, and the development of pedagogical skills for teachers.
The program also included a plenary conference dedicated to the impact of artistic research on higher education, as well as a round table discussion on the theme "Pedagogical Innovation at P.PORTO: assessment, challenges and future perspectives" , culminating in the presentation of strategic action lines for strengthening pedagogical innovation at the institution.
The opening session included the participation of the President of the Institute for Higher Education, IP (IES), Professor Joaquim Mourato , and the President of the Polytechnic of Porto, Paulo Pereira , highlighting the importance of institutional cooperation in promoting the quality of higher education and pedagogical innovation as essential factors for the development of institutions and for strengthening student learning.

The holding of these conferences highlights the growing investment by higher education institutions in consolidating a culture of pedagogical innovation, based on experimentation, research, and evaluation of educational practices. By promoting dialogue between teachers, researchers, students, and academic leaders, the initiative contributed to reinforcing a strategic vision of pedagogy in higher education, oriented towards the continuous improvement of teaching quality, the enhancement of teaching activity, and the preparation of institutions to respond to the emerging challenges of digital transformation and new ways of learning.
